I had to pick up a dress that a friend had sent via one of the transport companies. I got a text message that gave instructions, up to the bus stop to alight at. I followed the instructions and alighted at the bus stop. THEN, I decided to ask someone to direct me to where I was going. He then pointed me to a building that required me to walk for about 10 minutes. Without questioning his direction, I walked for 10 minutes and eventually got to the place the man described. I got there and asked for where to pick my cargo. The attendant pointed me back to the bus stop I had alighted at. Apparently, the man had directed me to the bus terminal, not the cargo pick up point.
As I took my 10 minute walk back to the cargo pick up area, I realised that many of us are replicating my mistake in our lives. We start out following the Lord's instructions. Then when we're practically there, we ask someone who APPEARS to know their way around. Many of these people, like the man that gave me directions, actually mean well. The only issue is that they don't know that they don't have the answer to your unique issue. Just like the man didn't know that the Cargo Pick-up/Drop-off point is actually different from the bus terminal, they don't know that your situation is not the same as that of their cousin's neighbour's colleague's friend that is actually SIMILAR to yours.
I wasted about 20 minutes following goods intentioned but wrong advice. Thankfully, it wasn't a busy day and my schedule wasn't too affected. Thankfully, I was able to quickly conclude my transaction and continue with the other businesses of the day. Unfortunately, in life, it isn't that simple. Time wasted following wrong advice is not easily recovered. Yes, God can make a message out of our mess. However, I don't believe it is sensible to go around making messes, though.
I think it's better to follow the Man wey sabi. He is the reason for the season, you know. He has given us His Word so we are never confused. He has also given us men and women through whom we can hear what He has to say about each circumstance we have to deal with.
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."
Psalm 119:105, NIV

SOMETIMES YOU JUST NEED TO FIGHT
If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” (1Corinthians 15:32)
As I was getting ready for work today, the Holy Spirit brought this scripture to mind.
Paul said he fought ‘wild beasts’ in Ephesus. Erm, these ‘wild beasts’ were actually human beings that were behaving like wild beasts. The Holy Spirit pointed out to me that Paul did not sit passively ‘praying’ as the ‘wild beasts’ were doing whatever it is they were doing that earned them the ‘wild beast’ title. HE FOUGHT THEM!
I love loving my enemies but I refuse to have people ask “Died Adenike as a fool dieth? Thy hands were not bound, nor thy feet put into fetters: as a [wo]man falleth before wicked men, so fellest thou.” (2 Samuel 3: 33b, 34). Mbanu, I shall not surprise my Maker with my death. I will only give in once I confirm that it is His will…Selah!
In a related development, I came across one wicked comment that a ‘sister’ gave to a lady dealing with domestic violence. The ‘sister’ asked the DV victim if she wants her kids to grow up without a father. Erm, God is watching you ooo with your wicked advice. God hates violence as much as He hates divorce so please be guided… If you’re a victim of domestic violence/ abuse, please send a message. Don’t worry, I’m equally concerned about your marriage and your kids. If you are an abuser that wants to repent and start a new life, please send a message; there is room at the cross for you too. As for those enabling domestic violence with all the stay and fight for your ‘marriage’ wickedness, this post is NOT dedicated to you. I have one scripture I’ll love to share but I haven’t got release to share it yet…
Back to the gist of the post, I get tired with some ‘WWJD’ folks that use that to blackmail believers into staying in abusive relationships. Jesus did some stuff that some believers will consider ‘unchristianly’ . That tells me that some of us are practising false humility/ religion.
When Jesus realised that some people to kill Him before His time, HE WENT TO A COUNTRY NEAR THE WILDERNESS (John 11:53-57)
Here are a few ‘fighting’ scriptures, lol…
“For, when we were come into Macedonia, our flesh had no rest, but we were troubled on every side; WITHOUT WERE FIGHTINGS, within were fears. Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus..” (2 Corinthians 7:5-6)
“And what shall I more say ? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthah; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets who through faith ….WAXED VALIANT IN FIGHT…” (Hebrews 11: 32, 34)
Sometimes, brethren, you just need to fight. The important thing is to remember that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10: 4)
Have a blessed and productive day.
